Compression classes
Compression Class I – Mild compression (18-21mmHg)
Stockings of this class functionally distribute compression from the foot to the thigh. Usually, such products are prescribed to those people who have small spider veins or varicose veins. In the case of blood circulation system disorder in the lower extremities, this class of stockings is also used. Such products are very popular among pregnant women and those people who lead a sedentary lifestyle.
It is used for the following reasons:
- Reduction of risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Reduction of edema or swelling
- Prevention of minor or moderate varicose
- After surgeries or injuries
- Minor varicose veins
- Aching or Fatigued legs
Compression Class II – Moderate compression (23-32mmHg)
The compression hosiery of this class supports veins and creates pressure on the legs. If you wear this hosiery, nodes don’t appear in the vessels. These stockings of this compression class are suitable for the treatment of progressive forms of thrombophlebitis and varicose veins.
It is used for the following reasons:
- Mild Venous Insufficiency
- Superficial Thrombophlebitis
- Sclerotherapy, Phlebectomy and Vein stripping
- Pre or post vein procedures or surgeries
- Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI)
- Used in treatment for severe edema
- Venous ulcers
- Chronic Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Severe Lymphedema
Compression Class III – Firm compression (34-46mmHg)
This hosiery should only be used if a doctor prescribes it. Stockings of the third class have a very strong compression. Because of this pressure, the venous lumen narrows. At the same time, sagging areas where blood stagnates get tightened.
It is used for the following reasons:
– Varicose veins with trophic disorders
– Сhronic superficial vein thrombophlebitis
– Postthrombophlebitic syndrome
– Deep vein thrombosis
– Lymphatic drainage failure
– Trophic ulcers in the healing stage
– The Parkes-Weber and the Clippele-Trenaunay syndromes
